Aktia and CMI launch partnership
Aktia and CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation will begin cooperation. CMI is an internationally renowned organisation, seeking solutions to conflicts through dialogue and mediation. As a partner to CMI, Aktia wants to support the organisation and respect Martti Ahtisaari’s legacy.
The core principle of CMI is a simple but firm belief that all conflicts can be resolved. CMI is an independent non-profit organisation that works to prevent and resolve conflicts through dialogue and mediation. Founded in 2000 by Nobel Peace Laureate and former President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari, the organisation has since grown to be a leader in the field of international peacemaking.
CMI is a natural partner for Aktia, as the bank has been building a sustainable future and a stable society for future generations for almost 200 years.
“Like CMI, we strongly represent the values emphasised in our society: equality, trust and cooperation. We want to affect people's well-being and the stability of society, because in a stable society people, companies and organisations can grow and thrive,” says Aleksi Lehtonen, CEO of Aktia.
“We look forward to launching this partnership with Aktia, as we share a common vision of the importance of stability and a sustainable future. The partnership will enable us to strengthen our operations and provide tools for conflict resolution both in our international work and in Finnish society,” says Hanna Klinge, Deputy CEO of CMI.
We think further together
Together, Aktia and CMI will form a unique partnership with cooperation at its core. The partnership will give Aktia’s customers and employees the opportunity to support CMI through their own actions. CMI provides Aktia’s stakeholders with an opportunity to increase their understanding of practical conflict resolution, thus enhancing a constructive and peaceful dialogue in society.
“Our partnership is not a traditional charity in which a company supports an organisation primarily through donations. The unique nature of the concept is that it provides our employees with the opportunity to, with the support of CMI, train to become everyday conflict resolvers and to apply in practice what they have learned. Employees can participate as assistants in the CMI's Ahtisaari Days project, which offers young people in Finland tools and perspectives for non-violent conflict resolution,” says Malin Ahlström, Customer Experience Director at Aktia, adding: “We also want to offer our customers an opportunity to increase their understanding of CMI and its mission and inspire them to make use of the expertise of the organisation.”
“Our work extends across generations, and while the world around us is evolving, our core mission remains the same: we help people think further. The cooperation with CMI reflects our vision of our role as a builder of a sustainable future, and we also want to take on an active role through this partnership,” says Aleksi Lehtonen.
