President and CEO and Executive Committee
The President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is appointed by the Board of Directors, which also determines the CEO’s salary, pension benefits, terms of notice and other terms of employment. The CEO is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Group’s business in accordance with the instructions issued by the Board of Directors.
The CEO appoints the other members of the Group’s Executive Committee who are responsible for business areas or other areas of responsibility, based on the job descriptions, competence profiles and terms approved by the Board of Directors.
The members of the Executive Committee lead their respective business areas and/or areas of responsibility relating to other Group functions. Certain matters relating to lending, the management of the Group’s funding, liquidity and market risks, and operational management are considered by internal committees whose members are selected from among the members of the Group’s senior management.
The Executive Committee acts as a consultative body for the CEO.
As the positions of the CEO and the other members of the Executive Committee are full-time positions, outside employment and other positions of trust require the consent of the Board of Directors or the CEO, respectively, to ensure that the executive management has sufficient time to perform its duties.
