Aktia Bank Plc renews its Executive Committee to make implementation of the strategy more efficient

Aktia continues to implement its strategy, which was renewed in 2017, to the next stage.  Aktia Bank Plc will have three areas of business, Retail and Corporate Banking and Asset Management, and renews the assembly of its Executive Committee. The Executive Committee is also strengthened by strategic and conceptual knowledge. The renewal aims to serve customers in the best way possible.

By the renewal and strengthening the strategic knowledge of our Executive Committee, we aim to develop our activity even further and to serve our customers in the best way possible. We will make the knowledge of our experts even better available to our customers in the future. The development of our services is based on the customers’ needs and the changes in customer behaviour”, says Mikko Ayub, who started as CEO of Aktia in October.

Graduate engineer Max Sundström, 47, has been appointed new member of Aktia's Executive Committee and will be responsible of the Group’s strategy, concepts and development of digital services. Sundström is moving to Aktia from Nordea, where he has been in a managerial position in Nordea Markets and has been responsible of the Retail Banking customers in Finland. He will start in his position on 1 February 2019 at the latest.

The following members of the Executive Committee at Aktia will continue with partially renewed areas of responsibility:

  • Irma Gillberg-Hjelt, director, Corporate Banking
  • Juha Hammarén, Executive Vice President, COO, Deputy to the CEO
  • Outi Henriksson, CFO
  • Carola Nilsson, Executive Vice President, Private Banking
  • Anssi Rantala, Executive Vice President, Asset Management
  • Anu Tuomolin, Chief HR officer
  • Juha Volotinen, Chief IT officer

There is also a staff representative in the Executive Committee.

The current Executive Committee members Sam Olin continues to have responsibility for premium customers and Merja Sergelius to have responsibility for private customers within the new area of business, Retail Banking. Minna Miettinen will move towards new challenges outside Aktia.

The changes will come into force on 1 January 2019.

The renewed areas of business do not affect the financial reporting at Aktia.
